UC Davis and KFS use the term the Full Accounting Unit (FAU) to describe the attributes/codes required for every KFS document

The FAU is the mechanism used to classify the type, purpose and funding entered into KFS. It is used by departments to meet their reporting needs and is used by Accounting & Financial Services to run annual reports and financial statements for UC Davis. The FAU is comprised of three required elements and three optional elements.

The required elements are the:

  1. Chart
  2. Account
  3. Object

The optional elements are:

  1. Sub Account
  2. Sub Object
  3. Project
