Thank you to everyone for coming to our Mini Data & Donuts regarding GDPR. Molly Theodossy's presentation covered a lot of important information about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its impact on the campus data community. For those of you who were unable to make it, here are some of the key points discussed during the presentation:

  • GDPR is a data privacy regulation that applies to the processing of data relating to organizations operating in the EU, even if the processing is done outside the EU.
  • GDPR strengthens the rights of the individual and increasing the fines for non-compliance.
  • GDPR takes effect on May 25, 2018 and replaces the existing data protection laws.
